Bug Report
Hello, forum, I'm Already Dead. Been playing IVAN and lurking for a few weeks, now. IVAN has become my new favorite game, even in it's early stages of development. Anyway, I tried to send this bug report via ivan-users@sourceforge.net but the mailer daemon spit it back at me, saying it couldn't be sent, and the IvanWiki seems to be busted. So, I'll post my bug report here ... I did search for this bug on the forums, and couldn't find anything, so if it's already covered, I apologize in advance! IVAN Bug Report
OPERATING SYSTEM: Windows XP Professional
IVAN Version: v0.50
WHAT I DID:
Tried to start a new game of IVAN using a character named, 'Bob "The Ill"
Fated.' As I attempted to enter the main dungeon, the game crashed,
giving me the following message:
Program aborted!
Can't open Save/Bob_"Th.wm for output!
(error report message)
POSSIBLE CAUSE:
I think this might have something to do with the fact that Windows cannot
handle files that contain quotation marks; as IVAN tried to write it's
file, which appeared to contain quotation marks, Windows stopped it,
halting the program.
To clairify: Player names with quotation marks in them will crash the game.
While not the most game-crippling bug, it could befuddle some players who aren't sure what they're doing wrong.
That's all I got to say. To the IVAN developer(s): keep up the good work! Here's to the next version of IVAN, which will doubtlessly bring even more painful and often humiliating ways to die!
