Crash : During the reading of a scroll of repair
First, hi everybody, I'm new here, a new french guy ;) I just found a bug... The game crash when I try to read a scroll of repair. I have 2 broken gauntlet of dexterity +1 (the only broken items in my inventory). One of the gauntlet is covered with blood. When I say read, I choose the repair scroll (I have 2), and the game crash. Even when the 2 gauntlet are free of blood, the game crash. If other questions, I'm at your disposal ;) By the way... Is their any translation in progress?

I had similar crashes with other scrolls which affect items (I don't remember which one in specific; scroll of enchant foo or scroll of harden material). They happen after choosing "select an item from inventory". (For now, you can avoid the crashes by putting the item you want to affect in your equipment; and if the game crashes, you can load autosave.)

Welcome to the forum Planplan. Does this bug occur always or randomly? We haven't encountered any crashes in the inventory screen and may have trouble reproducing this bug, so anyone who discovers a method to trigger this crash rather surely (maybe there's a common item in all those inventory combinations?), please explain it to us!

I try some turns later, and i t crash one more time. And I try on an other level, a lot of turns later, but I've been successfull. So, I think I encounter bad things all in the same time ;) This bug tell me somethings too. As a student in computer science, I often put error log to my programs to help me debug. Such things could be usefull. By puting the date and time, the last 50 actions, the inventory, the weared objects, the stats, value of "secret" variables, etc... Because I could only report what I see, and sometimes, it's not what we could think ;) Oh, and I re-ask... Any translation projected? :p If not, I could propose myself to translate the game in french ;) Not quickly, but I could handle this (and with much quality than the quality of my english :p) Wish I help...

If possible, you could pack and upload your savefiles somewhere and post us the link. We'll check what we can do. You are right that more information should be printed or saved in a file when an error occurs. There's no translation planned. We don't oppose anyone doing it, but the task may take a lot of time which we doubt anyone is ready to spend alone, and there might be difficulties maintaining the translation in the future. If you translate some files or need some modifications in the few grammar functions in the game, contact us. Probably a part of our inherent skepticism towards translation is due to our native language, Finnish, which is nearly impossible to use in a roguelike because of the overcomplicated grammar. I can't speak French, but I imagine it is roughly as good as English in this respect.

Translation
I could tap some Swedes if you ever need translation into Swedish, though really it is kind of superflous in a sense. Most Swedes speak English, and it is likely you Finns might know svenska as it is (though I'm just being assumptory).

I just had the same error (upon reading scroll of repair, program exits and gives message "Fatal Error: Unknown exception thrown"). Does not show inventory menu before crashing. Windows XP Professional, 512MB, Ivan 0.50. I have a saved game (1st level of hideous cave) that I have used to reproduce the error every time, but I don't have anywhere to post it (1.63MB zipped). I have played the game MANY times over the holiday weekend (GREAT game, BTW), and had not had any problems until now.

Preferred method: upload the save package somewhere and post here the link. Alternative method, if the former isn't possible: mail me at timo.kiviluoto@mail.suomi.net . Thanks in advance. We really need the save, since this crash hasn't ever occurred to us. :?

This bug is fixed in the next version, due to Philip's save game. Thanks! :D The crash occurs if you have a corpse in your inventory. There's little reason to carry corpses in IVAN, usually one just eats them or leaves behind, and we have never happened to carry one when using the scroll.

Corpse? ... Oops! At least it was a small one! Oh, well. Glad to be of assistance!
