Cool. How long you been working there?

I started at the half of june. Ends at last day of september. I wish i could stay till the end of the project ( the game had to come out for end of september but it was put back to october : L )

That's great. What kind of skills do you need to get such a job?

( this is my first messenger conversation on a forum ) Well to work as graphist in video games you got to learn computer graphics ( might have a special name in english but in french its infographie ). Basically you know how to create texture with some painting program ( usually photoshop ). If you want to be taken as 3D graphist in a video game studio you need to look what kind of 3D program they use in your country. For example, in France they usually uses "3dsmax" or "Maya" but i heard that other countries uses something quite powerful called "Softimage SXI" or something. You got to master one of them. Learning isnt hard, doesnt need "talent" like drawing. Just requires you got eyes, hands and a brain. then all you need is to learn a few tips of the program and to train on tutorials. One guy in the studio im working never made a graphist scool or anything. He just learned by himself at home :)

It doesn't require talent like drawing freehand with traditional media? I find that a bit hard to believe, but if it is true it's good news for a lot of people who like computer games and working with graphics but who don't have strong traditional art skills.

Yes you need to train your drawing skills, its better. But in my school you know , only few knows how to draw and they arent the better at all in 3D. Actually I and another guy are among the 2 real drawers there and we re probably amongst the worst in 3d in the class ! Yay !

Did you draw your icon yourself? Also, what exactly do you mean by "AFK-land?"

*feels like he's in an interview* Well yeah you know, i kinda draw it myself yeah . 8) ( yes i did it, reminds me i was supposed to make a new one months ago... ) AFK-land is a wonderful place. Where I and Somagu live. Its entrance is secret and its the place where you can find BRB-BBQ or AFKBURGERS . I love to hang out there. You can only get there if you re good at being idle on IRC.

RE: Dev-Review Yeah, anything to stave off boredom, ya' know. Thought about downloading some abandonware games over the weekend, but some of the games are jsust a bit too dated. Still haven't taken one dude's suggestion to check out System Shock. Will do that soon. RE: AFK-land I thought that this might have been an oblique reference to AFKN, or Armed Forces Korea Network--the channel for the U.S. army in South Korea. I had imagined some soldier holed up in his bunker playing IVAN.

against boredom : If you re not against console games, try some emulator. you ll need an entire life or 2 to try everygames. Finding some MMO to your taste is a good way to lose any chance to get a life too. You might want that. Otherwise, a game i like a lot and which is multiplayer and which cannot be finished is continuum. Take a look. The only Top view shoot em up MMO i know. Bout afk land. Heh, would be weird. I would be some kind of warrior/ graphist. Either killing, either developping video games. Seems cooler than ninjas AND pirates together !! Hell yeah...
