Dalboz, do you live stateside? People read about RIAA action from abroad get the feeling that they have IPR-gestapo on every street corner just waiting to jump down your ass at the smallest infraction.

Somagu- 07-28-2006

I live in California, and honestly, without spying you or otherwise viewing what you download, they aren't going to bust into your house and arrest you for pirating old games, I mean really, do you honestly believe that they are going to spy on each and every single person's computer?

Freelance Berzerker- 07-28-2006

I haven't lived in the US for quite some time now. But the newspapers seem to indicate that the current administration has the NSA listening to the phone lines and the RIAA and MPAA seem to be, in addition to protecting their own interests, also serving the government's by probing everyone's bandwidth.

dalboz- 07-29-2006

I live in Taiwan. and to the best of my knowledge, the cops are too busy keeping pro-*test*-('")ants from assassinating the president.

Freelance Berzerker- 07-29-2006

Pro-*test*-('")ants from assassinating Chen Shui-Bian? Taiwanese politics are fun to watch--those guys brawl so much.

dalboz- 07-30-2006

now someone's fired a flare into the presidental building. the guys inside are freaking out right now.

Freelance Berzerker- 07-30-2006

When did this happen? Can you link me to a news story?

dalboz- 07-31-2006

http://tw.news.yahoo.com/060730/39/3el7q.html sorry, can't find it in other languages.

Freelance Berzerker- 07-31-2006

Entertaining. So that's how you say "signal flare" (shin4hao4dan4). I learn something new every day. Thank Valpurus for this forum. Since you're in Taiwan you must be in PC-component heaven.

dalboz- 08-01-2006

sort of.

Freelance Berzerker- 08-01-2006

Where's the best place to get components in Taiwan?

dalboz- 08-02-2006

there is a large store not far from where I live, there's PC hard/software galore in there. and it sells games real cheap too. Black & White for 50 NT. might have something to do with the fact that people here aren't very good with English.

Freelance Berzerker- 08-02-2006

It wouldn't happen to be NOVA at Taipei Chezhan, would it?

blob- 08-02-2006

50 NT ? how much $ does it make ?

Freelance Berzerker- 08-02-2006

At today's exchange rate, according to http://www.xe.com/ucc/convert.cgi, $1.52 Not too shabby. I like how the Taiwanese vendors will sell something like Baldur's Gate and give you the English AND Chinese manuals. That is just SO cool. Here in Korea they usually just sell the Korean release--pretty hard to get English titles here.
