Gentoo!
Looks like the ebuild needs work. For example, bone files and high scores can not be saved, it was just a simple permission problem, but hey! After fixing that problem something else poped up, using the stethoscope, the elecrical guys dying and (sometimes) the creature death list at the end of the game would segfault. I could not think of anything, so I just compiled everything from scratch (config//make) and things work now. Just thought I should inform everyone that for the Gentooers out there IVAN will not work properly out of the box.

Well...I use gentoo, but as I lack a proper internet connection at home and my box is way too heavy to carry it as a pouch, I downloaded the source, compiled it and had no problem.

Yeah, it's just that the ebuild seems... umm... unhappy. I also d/led the source and installed _that_. Everything works fine now.
