Harden Material tables
I decided, since the material list generated by Wizard Mode doesn't list materials by catagory, that I would cheat a whole lot of SoCM and SoHM so I could find out for myself exactly how it works. Here are the results. The numbers are Strength/Flexibility/Density. METAL Sulfur . . . . . . . . . 50/3/2000 Tin . . . . . . . . . . . 60/1/7250 Copper . . . . . . . .70/1/9000 Bronze . . . . . . . . 80/1/8300 Iron . . . . . . . . . .100/1/8000 Steel . . . . . . . . .125/1/7500 Meteoric Steel . .150/1/7000 Adamantine . . . 350/1/10000 LEATHERY Leather . . . . . . . . . . 20/10/800 Hardened Leather* . 35/7/1200 Troll Hide . . . . . . . . . 45/5/2000 Ommel Hair . . . . . . . 60/15/400 Phoenix Feather . . . 80/30/200 Dragon Hide . . . . . .150/5/2500 *Nymph Hair also hardens into Troll Hide, and is part of another catagory: ALTERNATE LEATHERY Leaf . . . . . . . 3/10/500 Palm Leaf . . . 5/10/500 Nymph Hair . 35/20/300 Troll Hide . . . 45/5/2000 etc WOOD Balsa . .20/2/250 Pine . . .25/1/400 Fir . . . . 30/1/500 Birch . . 35/1/600 Oak . . .45/1/700 Teak . . 50/1/750 Ebony . 65/1/1000 STONE/CRYSTAL Sandstone . . . . . . . . 25/1/2300 Limestone . . . . . . . . .30/1/2500 Calcite . . . . . . . . . . . .35/1/2700 Obsidian . . . . . . . . . . 40/1/2400 Gneiss . . . . . . . . . . . .45/1/2900 Slate . . . . . . . . . . . . . 50/1/2700 Granite . . . . . . . . . . . 55/1/2700 Basalt . . . . . . . . . . . . 60/1/2900 Milky Quartz* . . . . . . 65/1/2650 Quartzite** . . . . . . . .70/1/2700 Purple Light Crystal . 130/1/2000 Blue Light Crystal . . .140/1/2000 Green Light Crystal . 150/1/2000 * Flint (65/1/2650) also hardens into Quartzite, but has no predecessor. ** Rock Crystal, Jasper, Amethyst, and Citrine (75/1/2650) also harden into Crystal (purple) and have no predecessors. MAGICAL Arcanite . 180/3/800 Mithril . . .200/2/5000 Octiron . .275/2/900 VALUABLE Silver . . . . 60/1/10500 Sapphire . 250/1/4000 Diamond . 300/1/3500 VALUABLE 2 Golden . . . 55/3/20000 Ruby . . . . 250/1/4000 Diamond . 300/1/3500 GLASS Glass . . . .40/1/2500 Illithium . 225/1/6000 CLOTH Cloth . . . . . . 5/15/500 Angel Hair . 140/25/300 PARCHMENT Parchment . . .7/10/800 Spider Silk . 180/20/300 BONE Bone . . . . . . . 40/1/2000 Ommel Bone . 250/4/750 Everything else is isolated. Nothing can harden into them, and they cannot be hardened. Mostly this includes food and flesh, however there are some useful ones- Valpurium . 400/4/3000 Golden Eagle Feather . 300/25/100 Pepsi . 200/50/1500 Acidous Blood . 150/40/1000 Kevlar . 140/15/1500 Unicorn Horn . 200/1/2000 Ommel Tooth . 375/1/5000 I'm not entirely sure yet which of these can be wished for outside of Wizard Mode, aside from Valpurium and Kevlar, which simply require a high int- Valpurium especially so. That's about it.

Wow, you've gone to a fair bit of trouble. It's appreciated, but it was also, unfortunately, unneccesary. See this link. http://www.sp0rky-n00b.co.uk/temp/materials2.html Although there are three other material lists, this one's my favourite. There's probably already a thread for this... but if there is, it's long dead. A round of applause for all the hard work though, you deserve it :)

McFrugal- 05-08-2006

Ah. Well okay then. At least now I'm more likely to remember this stuff. I've never found any scrolls of change material without cheating. In that list you just linked, does *** in the int requirement column mean it's impossible to wish for it via SoCM outside of Wizard Mode?

Atomic- 05-08-2006

The list Chaos linked was created by me, and is also linked in the Off Topic forum (under Handy Links). *** means there is no int requirement for that material. Non-wishability is denoted by seperate tags in the script files; I didn't bother going through and marking them all when I created that list. One thing to keep in mind though, is that gasses and liquids are unwishable. Some other materials SHOULD be unwishable, but aren't; for example, ommel cerumen.

Beaver X- 05-08-2006

Huh... I've always had meteoric steel turn to mithril and then to adamant, or if i'm cheating, mithril to octitron.

Atomic- 05-08-2006

Meteoric steel shouldn't turn to mithril, it should go straight to adamant. Mithril should always go to octiron, not adamant. Is there a bug that needs fixing?

Beaver X- 05-09-2006

Maybe just unique to mine. As I've said before, I got this game off my school computer, maybe the blessed soul who put it there screwed around with it first.

Atomic- 05-09-2006

Maybe you should download a fresh copy off the official site...

Beaver X- 05-10-2006

Why bother? Everything else seems to be fine. Besides, I have dial-up, so downloads take forever.

Atomic- 05-10-2006

I've got dialup too. It really doesn't take that long. Unless you have absolute crap for dialup...

Beaver X- 05-10-2006

I do. And still, why bother?

blob- 05-11-2006

Because you want to live the perfect IVAN experience. Go now, download instead of posting here, YAY !

AlGoblin- 06-03-2006

Wow. And I thought I was the last one to have dial-up. The guys from polish telecom said 'You will surely have broadband this year' - five years. Now it rooocks the house. And I don't mean unlimited porn does. It just fulfils Yay. Ultimate Ivan. I have an idea! Get a laptop, and go, playIvan in a cave, dungeon, basement or whatever. But it somehow... Isn't... Just... Perfectly ultimate... Aehgh, the pain...
