Measuring bear trap strength
Is it possible? I was messing around with a wand of polymorph, and got the idea to turn a copper bear trap into a dragon hide one. Suprisingly, it was quite powerful, although logically it shouldn't be. So I got to wondering about bear trap material rankings. For example, valpurium makes the strongest armour, and adamant the strongest weapons (except whips). Which is better for a bear trap? What about octiron, which breaks about as easily as valpurium/adamant? What is a bear trap's effectiveness based upon? The hardness of the material? Density? All these and so many questions about bear traps. Can someone shed some light on this?

seems like the game dosen't know that a beartrap made out of a easily flexible, even liquid material should not hurt you much. I made one out of parchment/paper, and it somehow got my leg hurt very badly.another one made of banana flesh got my left hand severed off.

Perhaps it's highly compressed banana flesh/whatever substance you use, so it's all hard, kind of like a super-compressed plastic shield.

Whatever the case may be, it doesn't make much sense... :idea: What about a bear trap made of gasses? Such as air? Can't explain that with compression.

I made one out of a skunk's icky gases. got my arm down to bright red.

Magically compressed and sustained pure skunk stink gases, crushing your arm with pure stinkyness. Gruesome. Now dont get both your legs, arms and head trapped in these like we re all use to. A lot worse than those poor adamantium or valpurium traps for sure.

I think the strength of bear traps is based of material hardness, and doesn't take flexibility (or type of material) into account at all. Metallic bear traps are the only ones that will spawn, after all. If I still had the source code, I could dive in and figure out all I could about bear traps, but I removed that from my drive to make room for more games and music.
