I wish the doc would let me attach a goblin arm in place of my own (lost) arm...

blob- 08-17-2005

The game already loads the positions of arms and legs from the data files -- this would just require separate entries for left and right limb, a bunch of extra graphics tiles, and either a restriction on using animal limbs on the wrong creature or another entry and graphic for the humanoid version of the limb. It'd be work, but mostly tedius rather than hard. Then again, I've no clue how deeply embeded the limb system is into the game, and I know I wouldn't really want to go through all that work myself, so I doubt the devs would be too keen on the idea. If it is possible to make, im willing to help.

I ran into a strange named enemy today. Most of you are familiar with those temporal cyclone things that are occasionally found wandering around the GC. They don't do any damage, but will teleport you on a successful hit. On GC 3 or so I was engrossed in a battle to the death with the Goblin King, and I noticed what I thought was one of those temporal enemies sneaking up on me. I continued battling the king, knowing that the worst that could happen would be that i'd be forcibly teleported by the cyclone. Instead, when it struck me, it turned out to be an entirely different type of monster. I forget the entire name offhand, but it ended with "Kevin's will." Anyway, I noticed that it dealt enough damage to turn my chest area bright red through +2 mithril plate, so I ported away, healed, and went looking for it. Found it, and within 3 rounds of being struck with dual wielded steel thunder hammer +2 and a flaming iron longsword it died, leaving an amulet of ESP. Has anyone else encountered this enemy? It's obviously fairly rare, being as though I haven't seen it in dozens of runs into the GC.

Its actually "A pure mass of Bill's will" and yes it is rare but not a particularly hard enemy to beat. I think of it more as an easter egg than anything else. I've ony encountered it 3 times in 4 months of almost daily IVAN playing. I don't want to spoil it for you but try talking to it and all will become clear where this enemy came from. In fact I highly recommend talking to all enemies because the entertainment value is quite high. I had an orc say to me "Nice scalp. Me want it!" I'm probably supposed to scold you for a topic revival but I don't really give a f*ck if people revive topics with something that is totally on-topic and not yet discussed.

Revival approved :)

unknown_entity- 11-22-2005

This isn't a revival, it's an addition to the topic. A revival would be if he came in and said "thx I needed to know that", or something completely useless to the topic. <_<

Atomic- 11-22-2005

Bah. Technicalities. It's still a revivial, just not a revival punisable by omgbombs.

unknown_entity- 11-22-2005

*slowly puts omgbombs away* You saw nuthin'.

Slob- 11-23-2005

Oooh really. I did not know that. Of course isn't a pure mass of bills will invisible, so how would you see it if you needed an amulet anyway.

Caught between a rock and a hard place
After reaching the middle of a level, I had the bad luck to have Golgor Dhan the grand master dark knight spawn on the right side and Ischaldirh the dark archmage on the other. Golgor kills me everytime. Sometimes I'm able to get to Ischaldirh after killing all the clones of myself that he sends after me. What I would like to know is if his spells run out. Maybe I could wait him out, and then go in for the kill after he's used everything. I'm interested in hearing whatever tactics you've used.

After reaching the middle of a level, I had the bad luck to have Golgor Dhan the grand master dark knight spawn on the right side and Ischaldirh the dark archmage on the other. Ouch. What I would like to know is if his spells run out. Maybe I could wait him out, and then go in for the kill after he's used everything. Nope, spells don't run out in Iter Vehemens ad Necem. You can't use spells either, even if you turn into a spellcaster, which sucks. I'm interested in hearing whatever tactics you've used. Two words - Ultimate Golem :D If you're talking legit though, you'd need high stats, good equipment, ESP, telecontrol...

one thing that will be worth adding to the new version is the ability to cast spells if turned into a spell caster. or reproduce, in the case of mutant bunnies.
