Newbie questions
I am trying to understand IVAN despite its simplicity when compared to most Rogue-likes I have checked the command list, but I think I just can't find any commands that would relate to. cooking kicking taming pets Getting the healer to heal/replace limbs I geuss that's it. I know some of these options may not be supported so please bare with me. I'll probably have more later I geuss.

Hey welcome to the forum. So, hmm you cant cook in IVAN. Kicking is only possible if your arms are unusable. : / Taming pet is possible with some special items I believe the healer in new attnam offers you to reattach a limb if you talk to her with the limb in your inventory. There might be some other way though.

The gods can also supply you with new limbs, and the healers can create them from scratch, too, just costs extra money. Praying is free, though.

Kick is done with shift+k then choosing a direction in the base keymap chatting shift+c allows you to interact with healers droping (d) and picking up (,) let you interact with shop keepers taming is done with a scroll of taming, a lyre, or praying to Dulcis. Also some dog like critters can be tamed by throwing or kicking a bone at them. Also this topic is probably better in the Tips and Tricks forum.

Ok I'll look more carefully where I should place my posts in the future, thanks for your answers to my questions. I thought I'd definitely have more by now. but no.

Ok I have one more. Is there any general rule that I need to know to be able to get in and out the other side of the first dungeon. I mean like the basics of the game. For example in ADOM it's nessecary to constantly monitor your aggression, otherwise you'll die pretty quickly. Is there anything like that here?

The only thing I can think of is just keep at it, you'll get better eventually. I mean, I catch on really fast, and after my first try or two, I was able to get down into GC, (the second dungeon) so I can't really offer much advice, except to ditch the level if Magical Mushrooms (the bouncing ones) appear, and to rest if you're wounded, that's all.

-use the "s"earch command instead of waiting if you want to strike first. -Dont forget to switch run and walk mode, its very useful. -you have to learn when to pray and when not to. -Better keep wands for after UT usually. - UT 3 is dangerous. Dont hesitate to run back to UT2 for some rest when you need it. -Dont die.
