Segmentation fault... I installed IVAN on an old iMac, on Linux, but it can't seem to load any saved information (maps, saved games, etc.). Instead, it aborts, and produces a "Segmentation fault" error message. The IVAN program has all the necessary permissions to access the saved info, so I googled "segmentation fault." Many of the pages say it could be a hardware problem. None of my other programs seem to have any problems, but could my segmentation problems with IVAN be caused by IVAN running on Linux on an iMac computer? Or if not, does anybody have any suggestions?

Well it doesnt really look like there is a seperate download for linux and/or Imac so I would say it might be the os, but then again, I have never used another system besides windows besides an old macintosh and a dos computer.

Yes, it's the OS. If im remembering correctly, Lenox was trying to port IVAN, but I don't know if he ever finished. Does anyone know?

It is ALMOST finished. I think they had a last problem...

Revival
blob- 11-26-2005
Jimmy... Do you realise this "revival" post was at least trying to be useful ?
Now, saying just "revival" is completely pointless. :l
jimmy- 11-26-2005
Atomic has said REVIVAL to helpful posts before
Atomic- 11-27-2005
"He did it, so I can do it too!"
Jimmy, you are truly a dumbass.
jimmy- 11-27-2005
but you altered what I said to make me look dumb !!!
Somagu- 11-28-2005
Thats because he's summing up what you basicly said, and you DID, so stop complaining. Actually better yet, STOP RESPONDING TO REVIVALS!

Arakun, please see Programming section too. I'm also working to get this working on big endian. (stupid little endians ;)
Farvardin- 02-26-2006
yes, the same for me on Debian PPC.
I tried to alter the makefile for the CCFLAGS, as pointed by the "guest" above, but I didn't managed to do it correctly, since there is still a -02 flag during the compilation.
GildedFalcon- 07-30-2006
Got the same problem. BUT with an important difference: I'm not using a mac OS.
I just saved the game and it worked fine. But for any reason, after some period it does not work any more. I'm using Linux x86, Kernel 2.6.15, Gentoo
Recompiling did not solve the prob. A new game created recently could be reloaded.
May I E-Mail my save game to someone who wonna try loading it? If he could load it, may be he also can save and send it back to me?
Maybe there was just an error while saving on my system, maybe not. I really don't want to loose my save game, although I'm not really high leveled.
GildedFalcon- 08-06-2006
Well, not good to see, that there is no support for my question at all here ...
