Books definitely have a good chance of burning in any explosion along with scrolls. Haven't you ever noticed the line "Your Book of Foo catches fire and is destroyed" or better yet "your scroll of change material catches fire..." I'd say for me probably 8 out of 10 dwarven books are consumed in the fire.

for some reason, the dwarves I've met always dropped books. off-topic: do you pronounce "kamikaze" as "ka-mi-ka-zee" or ""ka-mi-kaze"?

Battleguy01- 08-09-2006

I think it's "ka-mi-kaze" if your just talking about it to some one, and "ka-mi-ka-zee" if its just before blowing yourself up. Meanwhile, i think 50% of the time the books are destroyed with me, and i've only ever had yellow books.

Hmm, I'm no phonetics expert, but let me try to explain the pronunciation in English. First, the word is composed of two Chinese characters: "kami" (god) and "kaze" (wind). Kami sounds like "kah-mee" Kaze sounds like "kah-zeh" Japanese pronunciation fairly approximates Spanish, except for the trilling "r," consonant flaps like "t" and "d" and some other stuff.

I grunt it out all at once like Mr Miyagi saying Daniel-san and pronounce all four syllables.

dalboz- 08-10-2006

in chinese, it's called 神風特攻隊, literally "divine wind team" or "god's wind". rather fitting for a team of suicide bombers.

chaostrom- 08-14-2006

I thought it was Japanese, not Chinese?

Freelance Berzerker- 08-15-2006

"Kamikaze" is Japanese. He's just telling you how Chinese people say it.

chaostrom- 08-16-2006

Oh, okay. So how do Chinese people say it? An english rendition, please?

dalboz- 08-16-2006

eh... "shun fung tuh gong dwei". that looks terrible. :(

Freelance Berzerker- 08-16-2006

Adding Pinyin tones: 神 風 特 攻 隊 Shen2 Feng1 Te4 Gong1 Dui4. Apart from posting an audio clip to this forum (which I don't think is possible), I don't see how we can get anymore specific.

chaostrom- 08-17-2006

No, that's all right.

Would be nice if these forums did have a small cache for files that posters wanted to post...

dalboz- 08-17-2006

you can host them on some other site and link to it.

Freelance Berzerker- 08-19-2006

Yeah, I know. It just kind of sucks when the links get broken and you have nothing but one of those pics with slashes through it.
