The Greatest Game of all time? (Rogue-like anyways)
Well I see this forum isn't active but I'm so desperate to talk to other IVAN players I must try! I recently discovered this wonderous game and have logged a few dozen honest games... Hmmm.. being new to this game was fantastic! I was going to pick Nethack up again (I once made it to maybe the 3rd level of the gnome caves as an Elf -good starting eq magic sword and bow I think) but was endlessly frustrated by having to relearn all those damn keyboard "short-cuts" IVAN was very intuitive! I also love how responsive the gods are! One of my favorist times was my very first game... having suddenly lost a leg.. I thought surely I was doomed to die a slow painful death.. then I prayed to the loving healing god (I promise after this I'll refer to their actual names etc) and the leg was restored! Badass! Also many memorable deaths.. eh, only one I can remember atm was drinking from a fount, evil frog appears, starts dissolving me with acid, tried to fight it for a bit, watched limbs go black (cept a leg), was like "crap this was the farthest ever I got!" then tried a desperate plea to he made a trolls blood potion right next to me! Of course next move I died on top of it X(.
What people seriously need to do when transcribing them to this forum is COPY AND PASTE THOSE LAST 4 (or more) LINES OF OUTPUT! Their brevity and simplicity are infinetly more satisfying than some jarbled summary (lol like what I'm doing)
Well I was also wondering is there a more popular IVAN forum? Also nice to meet you all, if you happen to be online around the time of this post reply post-haste and I shall reply!
