I'm sorry if someone already asked this before, but:
if a certain monster gets hold of a wand, mine or musical instrument, can they zap/apply it?
likewise, if they get an artifact (for example, Turox) can they trigger it's magical effect? _________________ "Think like a madman" |

I'm pretty sure they can. But if not, someone correct me as I'm most likely wrong. _________________ FROG BLAST THE VENT CORE!

AFAIK monsters can use all kinds of equipment (including artifact weapons (never seen Turox in use by a monster, but probably they can if they happen to find it)), and dwarves can use backpacks of gunpowder. Possibly dwarves can also use other "kamikaze weapons" like wands to break. I have never seen dwarves picking up any kamikaze weapons (including backpacks). I have never seen monsters using anything else. _________________ 3D mode, screenshots and my other IVAN stuff |

Monsters can use all sorts of equipment, can eat, and can drink. As Z said dwarves can also kamikazie. Beyond that they can't do anything.
Artifacts specials are activated independant of the wielder, so yes, a skeleton using Turox is most likely to blow itself up. _________________ "Also, I'm the only person I know capable of a pelvic pary and riposte." -- Squashmonster

good, because I accidentally left my wands on GC4. I was afraid that my death message will say "Jukebox the human, killed by an ork with a wand of striking" _________________ "Think like a madman" |

I don't think they will. I think there are only three teams right now, the towns, the monsters, and you. The blood stains might be from a monster who got injured and is running away. _________________ "Also, I'm the only person I know capable of a pelvic pary and riposte." -- Squashmonster

I think monster infighting is possible, providing that you can get one monster to melee attack the other. _________________ "Think like a madman" |

I meant as far as the game is concerned. The people in the GC shop are on the "Townsfolk" team, the "sick bastards" are probably kobolds or some such, and I believe magic mushrooms don't attack stuff... they might force monsters to change teams via their bubbles or such, but they don't have their own team I'm pretty sure... _________________ "Also, I'm the only person I know capable of a pelvic pary and riposte." -- Squashmonster

Well there you go. My memory was off by about 9.
But Dhsk, if you tame *anything* it will be on your team. That's the whole point of taming. If it's attacking you... my geuss would be that it's bubbles confused it or something.
By my bubbles quote I was saying that perhaps the bubbles they produce are interpreted by monsters as an "attack", but that can't be right because monsters don't go hostile on the Enner. As far as I know anyways. OK that last paragraph was pretty much pulled out of my ass. _________________ "Also, I'm the only person I know capable of a pelvic pary and riposte." -- Squashmonster

the reason monsters don't go smashing Enner might be because
1. his screams are ranged attacks, and maybe ranged attacks don't cause monsters to go fighting each other
or
2. his screams killed all the monsters that tried to kill him. (this might be it, since every one of my characters that have gotten to his level has tons of monsters in the "killed by some other reason" section of the massecre records, all saying "...killed by the enner beast...") _________________ "Think like a madman" |

These teams are listed in Scriptdungeon.dat which you have, so ... But anyway these teams are:
* 0 == PLAYER_TEAM == Player and pets
* 1 == MONSTER_TEAM == Monsters, default relation to other teams == hostile
* 2 == ATTNAM_TEAM == Residents of Attnam
* 3 == SUMO_TEAM == Huang Ming Pong during an arena figth
(4 == Spawned hostile angels)
(5 == Dungeon shopkeepers)
(6 == IVAN_TEAM)
* 7 == NEW_ATTNAM_TEAM == natives and ostriches of New Attnam
* 8 == COLONIST_TEAM == colonists of New Attnam
* 9 == TOURIST_GUIDE_TEAM == dummy team which holds the village elder, who tourists follow
* 10 == TOURIST_TEAM == tourists of New Attnam
* 11 == BETRAYED_TEAM == pets which the player has angered
About the enner beast: I think that monsters don't fight each other when one hurts another. So the monster won't fight the enner beast even though the enner beast hurts them. _________________ 3D mode, screenshots and my other IVAN stuff |

To Atomic: I know what the point of taming is, but regardless tamed magic mushrooms will attack you, whether there are any bubbles or not. I speak from experience, the experience of having been betrayed by my tame, magic mushroom . Go try it. Tame a magic mushroom and stand next to it. |
OK. I am trying it right now. So far I have been standing next to a summoned, tamed magical mushroom for... oh, a game hour or so. It hasn't attacked me yet. It also hasn't been engulfed with it's own bubbles yet. I know that the bubbles are capable of causing confusion. Hence: the magical mushrooms you tamed had been 'bubbled' at some point. The confusion can easily last well past the point at which the bubbles have faded away. I would give you a transcript of the game but it's cluttered (I had problems summoning the mushroom, and since you can't cancel out of that prompt I had to summon things. I accidentally summoned a cat, which the new attnam residence have been killing ever since.) _________________ "Also, I'm the only person I know capable of a pelvic pary and riposte." -- Squashmonster
