It sounds unrelated in this case, but I'm gonna say it just has something to do with it being linux.

IVaN has a tendancy to only work on windows as far as I know. I can't read any programming languages.

Are you sure that the executable has right permissions set? (you need at least permissions to read and execute it for yourself, which is given by chmod 500 <filename>)
