Well just a little bug i discovered:
when you put on only one dexterity gauntlet you get no bonus for dexterity but when you put one strengh gauntlet you get your strengh bonus.
Can be a poweful exploit for the beginning of the game ( put only 1 of your strengh gauntlet and put one with a good AV on the other hand ) |

I'm not sure about that...
I think that a pair of Dexterity gauntlet +1 give you +1 Dex, but only one gauntlet give you 0,5 Dex... Maybe your Dex was to low to reach to next "integer level", like 10,3 and your Str was something like 10,7...
Try to put just one Dex gauntlet +2 ;) _________________ I'm french, so my english is bad...

Planplan is correct, sorta: your AStr value that is displayed is actually an average. Each arm has it's own strength. If you put a Gauntlet of Strength on one hand, it'll only give it's bonus to that hand. Thus, if it's only +1, you won't see any change in your AStr. If it's +2, however, the average will go up by 1. _________________ "Also, I'm the only person I know capable of a pelvic pary and riposte." -- Squashmonster

| So if you wield an axe in the left hand and a buckler in the right hand, is it then more efficient to wear a gauntlet of strengh on the left hand and a gauntlet of dexterity on the right hand ? Or does it use the combination of both hand on strengh / dex tests ? |

Corollary to that:
Once I had a mithril arm, so my AStr was high enough to wield just about anything one-handed. But it doesn't seem to matter in WHICH arm.
Meaning if I had gotten two Mjolaks, they could have been dual-wielded pretty effectively, even if one arm's made of human flesh. |

Hmmm... Useful to know. Thanks mattitude !
This means you can get One mythril arm to wiel anything you want and then another one with a material to get kickass agility and severe anything with limbs. Muhaha ! |

Or one arm of adamant, for strength, and one arm of phoenix feather for speed... |

You can also use the patented Freelance Bezerker natural-limb/passive-block method (TM) method. Just get an ultra heavy two-handed sword. kick your henchman. Chat to him for three days. Next thing you know you're strength is through the roof (mine is currently at 50). All without using any Ommel Cerumen!
Can this be termed an "exploit?" I mean, if you trained in blocking attacks for 3 days for straight, you'd probably get much better at using a certain weapon.
Anyhow, I'm thoroughly enjoying wreaking havoc. |

... Wow. ™ Huh? I think other people have used it before, but I never thought of patenting anything, except, of course, my very own AFK-Land™. _________________ FROG BLAST THE VENT CORE!

I'm just being playful. I only started IVAN very recently, and am sure others have found this exploit but have just not written anything about it.
I can't wait to see what level 65 kicking does (or level 65 biting for that matter!). Perhaps if a group of named baddies or ultrapowerful monsters got too close, you could use your character to "tactically" kick the most powerful one to the other side of the screen! I love this game! Now I just have to code in a few extra levels in to keep me interested after the allure of god-like weapon proficiency wears off. |

Haha, yeah, I gotta say, if not just for the cool dismemberment and all that nifty gore, this is definatly one of the best roguelikes I have ever played, also, Berserker, you're using the CVS version, right? _________________ FROG BLAST THE VENT CORE!

| I'm playing 0.50 with some of my own modifications, e.g. "common" named baddies. |

Maybe you could post some of these "mods" on something like Rapidshare? _________________ FROG BLAST THE VENT CORE!

| I'll be sure to check it out, Somagu. Most of what I'm doing is simple replacement of code through wordpad-editing. I think I tried to dabble in hard coding but couldn't get IVAN to compile. Too bad the devs aren't to give us a foolproof way to compile the game. A new dungeon on the world map would make a welcome addition. |
